We just had the Fourth of July, and that has inspired me to think about what makes me grateful to live here in the United States of America. I found that once you think it over, there is plenty of reason to feel that way. I thought I would share with you the two main reasons I am grateful. America has its faults, but it is a proud and wonderful country, and I’m glad I live here.
For one thing, The U.S. is a free country, a democracy. We have the right to make our own choices. We can shape our own lives, and we don’t have to listen to a dictator or king or anyone telling us what to do. We have laws of course, but we, the people, create those laws, albeit somewhat indirectly and therefore we have power and freedom. We are free and that is a wonderful thing.
Also America is, for the most part, quite honorable. As a whole our country has made its share of mistakes and done wrong things. But we can proudly say that many kind and honorable people were born here. So many people have fought for our country and our freedom. I am grateful for those people. I am grateful that people were looking out for us. We don’t always do the right thing, but overall we have many things to be proud of.
I’m glad I got to share some of the reasons I’m grateful to live in the United States of America. There are many reasons, and I only mentioned a couple of them, so I’d like to hear from you. Assuming you live in the U.S., why are you grateful to live there? Think about it and tell me in the comments. I love to hear from you!
