Fablehaven Book Review

FablehavenI recently read a fabulous book series titled Fablehaven. It is a five book series and I think anyone would enjoy reading it. It is by Brandon Mull and the first book is titled simply Fablehaven. The rest are, in order, Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star, Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague, Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary, and Fablehaven: Keys to the Demon Prison.

The story follows brother and sister Seth and Kendra Sorenson. They visit their grandparents’ house only to discover that it and its surrounding land is a secret preserve for animals so near extinct that humans now think of them as nothing more than myths! Such animals include centaurs, satyrs, dryads, and many more. However, Kendra and Seth soon realize that not all is at peace at Fablehaven or any preserve. A villainous organization known as the Evening Star is after five ancient and powerful relics, hidden on secret preserves around the world, and Fablehaven is one of those secret preserves. One relic controls time, another space, another heals any ailment, yet another grants unlimited sight, and the final artifact grants immortality. Put together, these relics can open the ancient demon prison Zzyx.

This series is quite possibly the best book series I have ever read. The author is so descriptive that you always have a mental image of the situation. The books tend to have a slow start, though, so don’t let that throw you off, as they get better and better. So have fun reading!
